Online Therapy

I was worried that my clients wouldn’t respond well to virtual sessions…

But most of my clients say they won’t go back to in-person sessions!

Here’s why…

They’re more comfortable doing sessions in their home.

Or wherever they want to do them. You can do sessions in your car… or even on vacation if you want!

They’re getting deeper levels of healing.

My clients report that feeling safe in their space allows them to continue to process. This also allows you to practice these techniques in your home and begin to create that muscle memory.

They’re saving time and travel.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t have to worry about taking the time to travel to and from your therapist’s office? Why take all that time… and put all that stress on your vehicle – not to mention fuel costs!

They’re getting the same confidential, secure environment as a therapy office.

I use SimplePractice for telehealth sessions. SimplePractice uses multiple layers of encryption to ensure bank-level security, so it’s both HIPAA-compliant and certified by HITRUST.

And it’s just as effective as traditional, in-person therapy…

At this point, I have some clients I have seen for over a year, and we have never actually met in person.

We can build the same rapport over video. We can have the same deep connection and communication over video. Try it out. If you don’t like it as much or more than in-person, then come into the office.

It’s so easy. Here’s all you need…

All you need is a laptop, iPad, or phone with video capability, and phone sessions are available, too. I encourage my clients to take a few moments to get set up. This means finding a quiet place you feel safe and will not be disturbed.

Get your kids on a project, or get comfy in your car if that feels better. Take a moment to set up your video so that you won’t be holding it the whole time. Make sure you have tissues, a drink, and a calm space.

*Pro Tip* Keep a pad, pen, or journal near you during the session to record your insights. It’s easy to think you won’t forget during our space of insight. However, it can be easy to forget when we face stressful situations again. It’s nice to come back and remind yourself of your growth, progress, and goals.

A few notes about virtual EMDR…

There are many ways I do Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) virtually. I will walk you through the process as we get close to that time.

I have several resources, including a virtual light bar app and tapper desk tools you can buy. But, technically, you don’t need anything special to do EMDR online. We can use good old-fashioned finger movements… or do tapping with your legs or shoulders. A full-screen computer or laptop can be helpful, but you can do everything from your phone if needed.

I will cover all this with you during our session.
